These Are A Few of My Favorite Things in 2015
Does the title of this post make you want to sing songs from The Sound of Music? When I was just a wee five-year-old, I was cast as Gretl von Trapp in the local high school production; I’ll never forget that experience! I digress…today’s topic for #AMonthofFaves is just that – These Are A Few of My Favorite Things in 2015; join hosts Girlxoxo, Traveling with T and Estella’s Revenge in looking back at the year that was – sharing our favorite experiences.
Eat – I made this Bacon and Egg Cupcakes recipe more than any other in 2015; I love having an easy breakfast ready to take with me so that I don’t have to worry about it as I’m rushing out the door. I received a copy of I Quit Sugar by Sarah Wilson for review and I’m so happy that I found this one!
Drink – For hydration (and rehydration) purposes, Nuun is what I’ve been drinking this year. 2015 has been my first year as a Nuunbassador and Watermelon is definitely my favorite flavor (and now it’s available year-round!). Now that cooler weather has arrived, I’m also back into drinking a cup of hot tea after dinner; luckily, the holiday flavors from The Republic of Tea are now available and Peppermint Bark is my favorite!
Wear – I spend most of my time in running clothes & shoes and, when I have to, I put on work-appropriate attire. I have made two fun shoe discoveries this year: the ASICS GEL-Nimbus 17s, which are like running on clouds, and the Clarks Rosepoint Bud Booties, which are not only work-appropriate but also very comfortable.
Smell – Aromatique is an Arkansas-based company that pioneered the decorative home fragrance movement in 1982; since then, amidst the competition, they have continued to thrive and provide charitable gifts to local organizations. One of their seasonal fragrances, The Smell of Christmas, has long been a favorite of mine and I’m happy to know that it is still around and available now!
See – I love seeing movies and some of my favorites this year have been McFarland, USA, Southpaw and The Martian; however, I’ve yet to see some movies that I’m really excited about like Bridge of Spies, Everest, Sisters (Fey and Poehler back together?!!), Concussion (you can read my thoughts on the book here) and Creed.
Most Used Gift Received – My Oiselle Moto Lesley Tights, hands down; Jonathan gave them to me last Christmas and they were used all winter and will be used again this year. They are comfortable, warm and I don’t even notice them while running; highly recommend.
Outdoor activity – While I would normally say running (and this is still running-related!), I had the most fun this year participating in a triathlon relay with two other gals while also cheering them on (and two of our spouses!) throughout the event; triathlons are really fun because there’s just so much action and so many opportunities to see the participants as they come in from one event and transition to the next.
Place visited – Hot Springs, Arkansas, for a lakeside vacation this summer. We always have a great time in Hot Springs; there are plenty of outdoor activities to take advantage of, events and sights to take in and great food.
Most squee worthy moment of the year – Meeting my friend Cecilia (in real life) for the first time! Cecilia blogs over at MommiesRun (and she’s hilarious), so you should check her out; I’ll get to hang out with her again this weekend, and I can’t wait!
Biggest change – We moved into a new old house! New to us, but it’s an old home; it has lots of character and charm (and some dead trees and leaky spots, but that’s a whole other discussion) and we love it. Moving into a new place is always a big change, but we’ve really enjoyed it and are looking forward to many more years here.
Tell me some of your favorite things from this year!
